How we started.
June 2025
The idea begins
A small AI enthusiast Rwandan student from Constructor University Bremen starts exploring how to build a language model that understands Kinyarwanda well natively.
November 2025
Ejo Labs is founded
We establish the company in Germany and in Rwanda with a mission to expand access to AI in Kinyarwanda.
January 2026
Data collection and model prototyping
We collected more than 2 millions words and prototyped the model by finetuning the model that focuses on Kinyarwanda.
March 2026
EjoChat launches
We release EjoChat, a platform enabling Kinyarwanda Q&A for education, health, and organizations.
